PubMed - NCBI","link":"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26657318","state":"public","note":"Controversy in science news accounts attracts audiences and draws attention to important science issues. But sometimes covering multiple sides of a science issue does the audience a disservice. Counterbalancing a truth claim backed by strong scientific support with a poorly backed argument can unnecessarily heighten audience perceptions of uncertainty. At the same time, journalistic norms often constrain reporters to \"get both sides of the story\" even when there is little debate in the scientific community about which truth claim is most valid. In this study, we look at whether highlighting the way in which experts are arrayed across truth claims-a strategy we label \"weight-of-evidence reporting\"-can attenuate heightened perceptions of uncertainty that can result from coverage of conflicting claims. The results of our study suggest weight-of-evidence strategies can indeed play a role in reducing some of the uncertainty audiences may perceive when encountering lop-sided truth claims.","username":"weinreich","tags":"health_communication,media,research","count":"3"},{"id":"76222","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-23 04:06:27","updated":null,"title":"Theories of behaviour and behaviour change across the social and behavioural sciences: a scoping review: Health Psychology Review: Vol 9, No 3","link":"http:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/17437199.2014.941722?scroll=top&needAccess=true&","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"behavior_change,theory","count":"2"},{"id":"76223","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-23 04:03:07","updated":null,"title":"The greatest magic of Harry Potter: Reducing prejudice - Vezzali - 2014 - Journal of Applied Social Psychology - Wiley Online Library","link":"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1111\/jasp.12279\/abstract","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"entertainment_education,storytelling","count":"2"},{"id":"76224","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-23 04:02:32","updated":null,"title":"The Marketplace of Perceptions | Harvard Magazine Mar-Apr 2006","link":"http:\/\/harvardmagazine.com\/2006\/03\/the-marketplace-of-perce.html","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"behavior_change,design","count":"2"},{"id":"76225","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-23 03:59:12","updated":null,"title":"5 Ways to Introduce Yourself Perfectly in 20 Words or Less [TEMPLATES] | Rebecca Okamoto | Pulse | LinkedIn","link":"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/5-ways-introduce-yourself-perfectly-20-words-less-rebecca-okamoto?trk=v-feed&lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_feed%3BCbn8ywU0USlo5SzfLxuOFQ%3D%3D","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"inspiration,professional_resource","count":"2"},{"id":"76226","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-20 00:52:19","updated":null,"title":"How To Write A Novel Using The Snowflake Method","link":"http:\/\/www.advancedfictionwriting.com\/articles\/snowflake-method\/","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"how_to,storytelling","count":"2"},{"id":"76227","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-19 13:16:37","updated":null,"title":"Seth's Blog: The two vocabularies (because there are two audiences)","link":"http:\/\/sethgodin.typepad.com\/seths_blog\/2017\/02\/the-two-vocabularies-because-there-are-two-audiences.html?utm_content=bufferd0202&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkedin.com&utm_campaign=buffer","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"advertising,marketing,target_audience","count":"3"},{"id":"76228","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-19 05:50:03","updated":null,"title":"4chan: The Skeleton Key to the Rise of Trump \u2013 Medium","link":"https:\/\/medium.com\/@DaleBeran\/4chan-the-skeleton-key-to-the-rise-of-trump-624e7cb798cb#.npaxpisqz","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"policy,target_audience","count":"2"},{"id":"76229","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-18 11:20:04","updated":null,"title":"Fictional characters make 'experiential crossings' into real life, study finds | Books | The Guardian","link":"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2017\/feb\/14\/fictional-characters-make-existential-crossings-into-real-life-study-finds","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"storytelling","count":"1"},{"id":"76230","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-18 11:12:39","updated":null,"title":"10 Inspiring Resources to Ignite Social Change Storytelling | Michael Margolis | Pulse | LinkedIn","link":"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/10-inspiring-resources-ignite-social-change-michael-margolis?trk=v-feed&lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_feed%3BdZE5xG57etwnFSCPcMn5%2Bw%3D%3D","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"social_change,storytelling","count":"2"},{"id":"76231","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-18 09:55:59","updated":null,"title":"An Introduction to Patient Journey Mapping | John Mitchell | Pulse | LinkedIn","link":"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/introduction-patient-journey-mapping-john-mitchell?trk=v-feed&lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_feed%3BsZCtQaBThfU9rsUAYQPUBw%3D%3D","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"design,research","count":"2"},{"id":"76232","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-16 07:04:54","updated":null,"title":"Do \u2018Sin Taxes\u2019 Really Change Consumer Behavior? - Knowledge@Wharton","link":"http:\/\/knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu\/article\/do-sin-taxes-really-change-consumer-behavior\/","state":"public","note":"","username":"weinreich","tags":"behavior_change,policy","count":"2"},{"id":"76233","user":"167","cdate":"2017-02-16 06:58:10","updated":null,"title":"Status meetings are the scourge.
