No hell. Just life when you were breathing and nothingness when you stopped. Except that it didn't, quite, turn out that way. Except he came back as the son of the kindest, sometimes saddest father in the world. In both worlds. A father that he knew, without a doubt, to be his flesh and blood. All at once, Xanxus had everything he'd wanted as a child. A home. A family. Stability. And he was going to fight like hell and beat down anyone who tried to take it from him, no matter what his age. (In which Sakumo raises a son who speaks multiple languages from birth, all of them gibberish to the poor single father jounin, spits vulgarity with the same ease as he does his praise and burns with an unshakable determination to build himself a family that will not fall, no matter who or what is thrown against it.)

In his defense, he hadn't expected the Tenth to ask for individual reports.

Unable to shut off his Dying Will, Tsuna seeks out Gokudera to work off some pent up energy.

It starts when he’s five, when his mother brings home a bag of fortune cookies and explains what the strips of paper inside them are for.

Xanxus takes the power struggle between him and Tsuna to a different level, but it doesn't work out the way either of them expects it to.

In the suppression of one sense, the others sometimes become sharper.

This is what you want, and he gives it to you.

Xanxus figures it's probably better not to ask too many questions, just in case he doesn't like the answers.

There is a philosophical difference between herds and packs, though Hibari might beg to differ.

Gokudera prefers it when Yamamoto isn't serious.

There are some things that Hibari knows for sure.

Yamamoto wears the rumpled look surprisingly well.

Sometimes Hibari's pride takes precedence over his taste for what is traditional.

After things get back to normal, Hibari has some explaining to do.

Tsuna considers the various ways in which he relates to his Guardians.

Give Yamamoto an inch, and he'll try to take a mile. Hibari's not entirely sure he approves of that.

Sometimes it takes a little bit of doing to get Gokudera's attention.

Rule number one: Never take your eyes off the Mist. The Tenth is the only reason it works, and that's because Tsuna doesn't know how to give up on anything. Or anyone. And when it's the Tenth asking, somehow everyone just seems to end up going along with it one way or another in the end.

Everyone seems to think he's lost his mind, but Yamamoto has never felt so sane.

Reborn enters into the Sawadas' household, but doesn't realize that what was Iemitsu's little boy is now his young daughter.

Their first time is messy and awkward, fumbling attempts in the dark with laughter pressed against heated skin. Tsuna doesn’t know what to do with his hands, is so nervous he can’t seem to get hard at all, and Kyoko keeps giggling so hard she accidentally kicks him in the face. They don’t fare much better the second time, or the third. They always seem a step out of beat, never quite lining up, always missing each other. Tsuna always feels like he’s going to vibrate out of his skin, like there’s something in his gut that’s trying to claw out. He keeps expecting his flames to burst out at any second. After a while he realises he’s so used to fighting his body is wired to it as soon as the adrenaline rush hits. And Kyoko is an adrenaline rush.

Tsuna and Xanxus get married. Tsuna and Xanxus get even.

In which Yamamoto and Gokudera attempt to communicate with each other and mostly make a mess of it, but get there eventually.

A series of vignettes about Tsuna, his guardians, and the people closest to him—snapshots of the impact they all have on each other (and that life has on them) over ten years. He never wanted to stand out, not in either direction. Is that really too much to ask? He’s not asking for great! He’s asking for normal, normal. Apparently it is too much to ask. Apparently it’s always going to be all or nothing with him.

Everyone watching the spectacle that is Hibari Kyouya raising a child in fascinated horror. Hibari treats child-rearing almost exactly like animal-training—the same basic pattern modified for a bipedal, very intelligent creature. It’s a little upsetting to watch. On the other hand, both his animals and his child seem happy, if odd, so maybe it works out.

Yamamoto and Gokudera have lunch together every Saturday. Tsuna can't decide if this is a good thing or just the cause of more ridiculous problems.

The last thing anyone expected was for the older twin to manifest Cloud Flames. (Or the one in which Tsuna is Xanxus' Cloud Guardian, flat-out terrifies anyone who's heard about him, has a younger brother who loves him, is possibly in a queerplatonic long-distance relationship with Hibari but will never admit it, and is the big brother you never knew you wanted in your life.)

In which Yamamoto shows Squalo a new trick for dealing with Xanxus.

In which Yamamoto wanders through life smiling, joking, and terrifying bystanders. It strikes him as weird that he’s had to struggle not to kill people, that it’s been such a challenge. He’s pretty sure that for most people, not being a murderer is way easier than being one.

Hana finds that it’s difficult to take care of your best friend when your best friend has all the self-preservation instincts of a lemming. Hana doesn’t know how this happened. No, wait, she does know how it happened. Kyoko made that pleading face, and Hana is weak to the pleading face. She knew Kyoko made poor life choices, but she didn’t realize they were contagious.

So they've got a little time on their hands to dispose of.

Dino's shirt looks much better on Bianchi than it ever has on him.

It's a long drive home, but there are plenty of ways to pass the time.

Gokudera doesn't know how to say no to Tsuna, which is maybe just as well.
