A slender, wiry man wearing a trenchcoat briskly made his way down the dark city street. He didn't rush, but he didn't linger either. This particular part of town has a nasty reputation -- screams and gunfire was nothing unusual. He would have much rather preferred to spend his time in much more refined surroundings, but unfortunately, he had business that simply couldn't wait.

Wufei, struggling with his demons, agrees to a wartime fling with Heero, no affection needed or wanted. But the 'arrangement' lasts and grows as they join the preventers. It could become a source of strength for both... if they let it.

Most fanfic doesn't address the issue of homosexuality, especially in Gundam Wing, where authors can assume that the future is tolerant, and that the characters can enter homosexual relationships without doubts or societal-disapproval. Slash fanfic is not queer literature, generally speaking. So an entire fic that's about Duo's homosexuality and its intersection with his identity is something entirely different. In this fic, Duo is sent to counseling after the principal of the school he's staying undercover at discovers that he's gay, but counseling turns out to be different than what he expected. The story is littered with excerpts from queer poetry, a really nice choice.
