The first time they met, Clark saved Lex’s life. Lex still hasn’t forgiven him. “I was just testing my bed,” he says. “For springiness.” “Falling. Falling off your bed. You’d have-” “Broken my neck if you hadn’t caught me, I know." Lex chalks another spidery sum onto the wall above his desk. "Trust me to get the roommate with a savior complex.” Clark snorts behind 'Journalism: A History.' “*You* collapsed into *my* arms. Don’t pretend you didn’t like it either, genius.” Lex laughs, balances his equation, and falls backwards off his chair. Clark kicks the door shut and catches him.

He remembered the fight with the computer-thing in the caves, which had never really been nice to him since he'd rejected his destiny, or heritage or whatever you wanted to call it. Clark is sick, Lex is worried. He does some research and decides House is the best. He then flies his boyfriend out, offers the hospital ten million on House's acceptance, another twenty mil on Diagnosis, and a further 40 mil on a cure.
