Kris Allen finds his definitions of love and family challenged during the first months of the American Idol tour when his marriage is tested by a scandal with Adam Lambert, all thanks to the National Enquirer.

SEQUEL to THE MANY WAYS TO FALL I know it has been a million years, so you might want to at least skim it even if you read it already. This fic probably won’t make sense without that one. What if Adam and Kris had a brief but memorable encounter before Idol?

So Adam’s a pretty curious guy, whatever, this shouldn’t surprise anyone who knows him.

Basically, this is how I picture the story of Kris and Adam’s friendship playing out, from the first day they met to a certain day in the future, almost exactly a year later. It’s made up of lots of big and little moments. Some happy. Some funny. Some sad. Features lots of cameos from all the other contestants and all the people we’ve come to know and love.

Has nothing to do with the movie Once, which I love. Sorry for any major historical goof ups but it’s more about the Kradam. The idea for this was loosely inspired by a fall out boy fic I read years ago, although if I remember correctly I think theirs was more of a parallel universes thing and like two paragraphs long and definitely wasn’t chronological. But it was awesome and if I ever find it again I’ll post it. Basically it inspired the common thread of the two of them always being fated together but the relationship always being slightly different. All the writing is original of course. Originally written to satisfy a prompt in the [info]ontd_ai Drabble Meme, but the length (2,090 words) got a little out of hand. Prompt: Michael does/says something about homophobia that pleasantly surprises Adam.

And then there's Adam, who lingers a little too long, and you know that's going to turn into instinctual magnetism for Kris, you know they're going to start drifting towards each other without even thinking about it; they're not going to know that this, what you're beholding right now, is exactly the reason why.
